jesse18videos asked: Hello, I've been looking at your music videos and really admire them. I am a film student in Philadelphia, PA and I am going to work on a music video soon. I have never shot a music video, but I have done documentaries and have some experience on location. I would like to learn some tips on how to shoot a music video effectively. Could you share some advice please. I'd be very appreciative, thanks!

“A small subject can provide the pretext for many profound combinations. Avoid subjects that are too vast or too remote, in which nothing warns you away when you are going astray. Or else take from them only what can be mingled with your life and belongs to your experience.” - Robert Bresson

ifeelawesomenevertheless asked: Hi, my name is Treya Bolin. I'm a full-time student at William Paterson University with a major in Media Production. After college I plan on becoming a director/editor for music videos. Is there any advice that maybe you can give to a student like me who is interested in making music videos? I would love for someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks, Treya.

If you know that at the bottom of your heart that this is really what you want to do, then never look back.  Like with all things, practice makes perfect so keep practicing, creating things, collaborating with others.

Stay up to date with new music and try your hardest to predict trends and take any internships/work opportunities where you can work and learn.

billyjetson asked: From a fellow director/videographer, I just wanna say I love your work. I watch them repeatedly. People always compliment my work. I put in the hours and put out quality products but I know I'm not where I need to be as a director. What are the necessary steps I need to take to make it to the next level? Appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks man.

Keep on working—I get more comfortable/better with the process with each work I do.

Keep on working.  Keep on watching.
